Through Colorado’s Enterprise Zone contribution tax credit, donors can significantly increase the impact of their gifts
to the campaign. The program promotes economic development within designated Enterprise Zones by offering tax
credit for contributions that are directly related to job creation, job preservation, and assistance programs for homeless
people. Gifts designated for Lawrence Street, The Crossing, Family Services, Champa House, or Ministry
Outreach Center—which are located within an Enterprise Zone—qualify for the credit. The Enterprise Zone program
offers substantial tax benefits for donations of $500 to $400,000, including:
-
Decreasing the donor’s state tax liability through a 25% state tax credit for cash gifts and 12.5% for in-kind
contributions such as stocks, vehicles, furniture, etc. (The donor must have a state tax liability.)
-
Decreasing the net cost of the contribution through potential federal pre-tax deductions and state tax credits.
-
Allowing the donor to help more people in need by increasing the level of the gift.
-
Making it possible for a donor to increase the level of a gift without increasing the cost of a gift.
Gift options include:
Outright Gifts—Gifts of cash allow donors to receive full tax benefits to the extent allowed by law.
Gifts of Securities—An attractive option for donors is through gifts of appreciated securities. Gifts of this type
may provide greater tax advantages than gifts of cash. The donor can deduct the current fair market value as a
charitable gift and completely avoid any capital gains tax on the appreciation. For more information, please call

Pledges—The Denver Rescue Mission encourages pledges
as a way of giving to the capital campaign. While most pledges are for a three-year
period, longer term (up to five years) pledges can be arranged, depending on
the size
of the gift.
Gifts of Real Estate—Gifts of appreciated real estate offer another way to fulfill pledges. For more information, please call

Matching Gifts—Where appropriate, those who wish to enhance the value of a gift are encouraged to contact
their employer to determine if there is a corporate matching gift program in place. For more information, please call De Ann @ 303.313.2405
Planned Gifts—The Denver Rescue Mission has a bequest and planned gift program to accommodate the forethought
of such donors. Donors interested in this option should consult with their attorneys and financial advisors. For more information, please call

Mission in exchange for a current income tax deduction and fixed lifetime payments to you. For more information, please call De Ann @ 303.313.2405 |
