Family Services

Family Services provides transitional housing, assistance for permanent housing, mentoring, life-skills training, education, and case management through the following programs:

Strategic Transitional Assistance & Response Program (STAR), a unique transition program at The Crossing providing assistance for men, women, families, and seniors, to guide them toward sustaining a self-sufficient lifestyle. This is accomplished as the residents respond to the program goals of a steady income, efficient budgeting, long-term planning, and healthy lifestyles.

The Crossing provides 77 rooms for families in need of transitional housing.

Family Refugee Services (FRS), in partnership with Lutheran Family Services, is matching refugee families with mentor teams who help them establish a new life in America.

Family and Senior Homeless Initiative (FSHI) is a response to Mayor Hickenlooper's call to the faith community for 1,000 congregations to embrace and mentor 1,000 homeless families through Denver’s Road Home, his ten year plan to end homelessness, instituted in 2005. FSHI pairs a faith community mentor team with a homeless family or senior to provide first month's rent and security deposit, as well as mentoring, with the end goal of sustainable permanent housing. Learn more, including how to become a mentor with FSHI and ways your support can help end homelessness, by visiting www.fshi.org.

One hundred fifty-eight families and seniors moved into permanent housing through FSHI and FRS in 2007.

Family Rescue Ministry (FRM) helps homeless, working families overcome the major obstacle of securing stable housing by funding the security deposit and first month’s rent payment in a long-term housing solution. FRM also pairs pre-screened families with mentor teams from local churches and other organizations. Mentor teams offer the family spiritual, emotional, financial and physical assistance for at least six months.
